Learning from Non-League Football in the UK - There was an awkward afternoon. Stands usually filled by hundreds of people, instead met by six hundred spectators. In row seat unnumbered did not all sit. Some are standing, some are eating pie in the stands behind the goal.

Of the audience area, occasionally sounding greeting on entering new audience. Apparently, their neighbors. The game lasted cried. Movement agile player number 11 to make the audience amazed.

"Who is the man, why is terrific once?" asked a kid who came with his father.

"Nick Wheeler," her father said as he leaned on the railing.

"Who?" The boy winced, "He looks more like Eden Hazard."

He stared ahead, "Wheeler, son, he spent seven years at the Charlton Athletic youth team."

At that time, 6 September 2014 will be a hectic day schedule of matches. Competition in the European leagues including the Premier League is entering international match breaks.

It is also used to hold non-league day, or the non-league competitions are held once a year since 2010.

What is a Non-League Football?

Non-League or Non-League is a competition of the fifth caste to caste eleventh in the league in the English pyramid system. This term stems from the differences between the management of a team of professionals who are in the top four castes, the caste below.

Before the English Premier League (EPL) was formed in 1992, the fourth caste is managed by The Football League. During that time unknown promotion and relegation from the fourth caste to caste fifth. The reason, the status of the team's fifth caste is a semi-professional team.

Non-League competition is still within the jurisdiction of the Football Association, the FA. It's just that, on the basis of jealousy and the cutting system operator name league (The Football League), publicly calling top four castes as "league", while the underlying caste called "non-league".

From year to year, the Non-League has not got a place in the hearts of the people. The majority of UK residents are more concerned to buy season tickets Premier League clubs such as Arsenal or Tottenham Hotspur, which is costly.

Not concerned for the British public to the Non-League could be reflected in the number of spectators who came. For example, Bungay Town who competed in the second division of The Anglican Combination Football League, Premier League or seventh caste. The number of spectators who came to malting Meadow Sports Ground, home to Bungay, never more than 50 people.

Whereas, Non-League is a league for club community located can be reached with just a few minutes by foot.
On this basis, a QPR supporter, James Doe, initiated a special day for the community can give an appreciation of Non-League by coming to the stadium.

At first James watched the pre-season match between Queens Park Rangers face Tavistock. In a match that was held at Langsford Park, home to the Tavistock, Doe was impressed with all the friendliness of the organizers of the game, one thing that he says is hard to be found in the Premier League.

Doe began to think how to keep the competition unpopular, widely considered by the public. So he set a day when the club's Premier League and the Championship gets time off from the FA. Because it is impossible for the Non-League competition to rival the Premier League and the Championship.

The tight schedule of the top UK competition makes choosing Doe halftime international week which usually begins after the transfer window closed. Today was named Non-League Day (non-league day).

Since it was first conceived in 2010, now support the Non-League Day continues to flow. Some elements of society, top football player, the media, celebrities and MPs also support this movement. So, do not be surprised if on the 6th September last, a number of British media, the crowd rushed to invite the community to come to a nearby park to watch non-league competition.

Keeping Traditional Values

As a true fan of West Ham United, Stuart Fuller as possible attend home games are held at the Upton Park stadium. Over the years he made a habit of it.

Until finally, he came to a caste seven Premier League matches.

That afternoon, Lewes FC play in the middle of the cage, the Dripping Pan. Teams competing in the Isthmian League Fuller stole hearts. Day after day later, Fuller more often truant from home to West Ham party. He chose to go to the Dripping Pan, while sipping a cold beer can be purchased at a local bar.

Gradually, love towards Lewes Fuller no longer unstoppable. From the beginning as a regular audience that is saturated with the atmosphere of the EPL, now he's in the management ranks of Lewes FC. With sincerity, he seeks to restore the atmosphere of watching the English football which he has now started to fade.

Because of its status as a semi-professional club, it is not surprising that football is a hobby. Not a few of them are truant from work just to play in a club that can sometime get into the Football League level.

Fuller called it "the most pure love" in football. Indeed, viewed from any side, from the Non-League players is hard to compete with the technical ability of players who competed in the EPL. However, most of them play not because of money. So, I wonder if Fuller found a different atmosphere in the stadium.

Fuller said the spectators who came to the Non-League matches have a sense of togetherness that is much larger than the fans who support Premier League teams.

Premier League is only inhabited by 20 clubs, and even then may not represent the whole territory of the county in the UK. It seems fans will differ from East Sussex, when watching the match Arsenal were in Greater London, with watching the game Lewes FC are located in East Sussex.

However, geographical proximity will cause a sense of representation becomes difficult to obtain than the English Premier League club supporter. When they shouted support the players who fight, they are not just sing the names of the stars that each day is only seen on television or read in the newspapers, but the support of friends, family, and relatives of their own.

Non-League match at generally begins at 3 pm or 7 pm. With an average ticket price of 8 pounds, the audience can stand anywhere, and not guaranteed to receive a warm welcome by the manager of the stadium.

Going forward, Non-League Day is no longer seen as a mere movement. Because the teams in non-league competition is the foundation on top of the Premier League itself, to be able to continue to stand strong.

Changing Ownership System

FA does not really give Batasa about club ownership in England. As long as the owner is financially healthy, anyone will be able to buy the club. Do not be surprised if foreign businessmen put the nails on British soil. In the Premier League, only seven teams managed by native English businessman, with West Ham United is owned by an Englishman, Wales, and Iceland.

By buying a Premier League club, foreign businessmen have actually participated add the British government budget revenue through taxes. However, there are some consequences that will have to be borne, began to increase ticket prices to change the logo and the name of the club.

With this system, the fans do not have the space to simply provide input or change the club's policy.

It is trying overhauled Fuller at Lewes FC. Together with the owners and other management personnel, Lewes invited supporters contributed to deciding the fate of the club. The trick, they live pay an annual fee of 30 pounds. With this money, the club expects to receive revenue, although the numbers are small.

To reduce costs, Lewes FC relies heavily on the support of fans. Food will be provided by club officials, even as if they are diving away party. Lewes did not hire a driver, because the bus driver carrying on by the management as well.

"Everyone who works at the club is a member of itself, and it was great," said fueller in an interview.

What to do this slowly Lewes is quite possible dicontek other clubs. Financial difficulties can be handled if the fans urunan and given the right to vote and be elected.

Donate to Cancer, Fungus, Supporters To Pay

The club is in the Non-League competition usually specially prepared a game as attractive as possible. This is usually done with the aim to cut ticket prices to capture new audiences first came.

Not just the club that makes the program special. Sponsors Conference Football, caste fifth and sixth Premier League, Vanarama, also participated.

Vanarama started his campaign in social media. They invite the players, managers, the media, celebrities, and fans to upload pictures of their thumbs with hashtag # thumbsup4NLD. Vanarama hope the campaign can increase the number of fans in attendance to the stadium.

Vanarama will donate four thousand pounds for the UK prostate cancer foundation. However, if the number of people who attended the entire conference football games reached 50 thousand, then the donation was increased to 10 thousand pounds.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people who came to Dene Park, Hull City, astonished. After writing the name and address of electronic mail (email), a doorman gave them two pounds per head.

However, not a few of the people who attended the refund money. Besides impressed by the friendliness of the club's management, their arrival to Dene Park purely to watch Hull United competed. They want to know, how the development of the club based in Kingston upon Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire is.

During this time, people in the city get to know Hull Hull City AFC club competing in the EPL. Over time, Hull City fans no longer respect for the owner, Assem Allam. Egyptian-born British businessman is trying to change the club's history and culture by changing the club's name into Hull Tiger for the sake of marketing.

Another Hull United, others also Bungay Town. Clubs that competed in the Anglian Combination Football League, or caste is the eleventh in the Premier League, gave a box of mushrooms for the spectators who came.

"(City) We have a mushroom supplier. Then, we thought, why not? Years ago, the audience increased by about 60 to 70 percent because of this promotion, and we are happy because we can do it again this year," said deputy leader of Bungay Town, Shaun Cole, in an interview with the BBC.

Former owner of Bungay Town, Jon Fuller, is a mushroom farmer. He is providing 160 boxes to match the fungus. Cole also divide the mushrooms for players, officials and referees.

About 100 people attended the match between Bungay Town face Martham. This amount is two times more than the average audience in attendance.

"I even gave the mushrooms to the referee before the game, he said, 'I hope this is not a bribe'," Cole said.

Non-League taught us many things about the shape of the pyramid sustainable competition. Although EPL becomes expensive storefront of a competition named Premier League, there are important elements that make up the English football and keeping the tradition and culture that exist in it.

Non-League competition is a form of awareness that although the UK has now become the ground for world-class stars, football is not just the Premier League alone. That there are times when football became so intimate with their surroundings and not merely sum up profits or bring about world-class players.
