Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Thunder Small Forward Kevin Durant, will likely miss the start of the NBA season. Bone fractured his right leg and forced him to break up to eight weeks.
Durant complained of pain in his right leg after a training session on Saturday (11/10/2014) local time. The results of the examination later revealed that the player's 26-year experience 'Jones fracture', or cracked bone in the big toe.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti, stating that it would consider surgery to treat injuries Durant. Judging from previous cases, Presti said that Durant takes 6-8 weeks to recover.
"Traditional treatment of these injuries require surgery procedures and cases in the NBA recently demonstrated that the need to re-play of 6-8 weeks," Presti said in a club statement, as quoted by Reuters.
"We are in the process of evaluating the most appropriate measures collaboratively with Kevin, their representatives, and the medical team the Thunder. Till next step is determined, we can not give a specific timetable regarding the case of Kevin," he added.
Thus, Durant will most likely miss the opening match of the Thunder in the NBA this season on 29 October.
Durant is a predicate Most Valuable Player (MVP) 2013-2014 season. He averaged 32 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists from 81 games last season.
Durant contributed large Thunder drove up to the Western Conference Finals last season. However, they lost in six games of the San Antonio Spurs who eventually came out as champions.
