Determination Systems Change UEFA Champions League Featured

Nyon - Starting next season, the determination of seed systems in the group phase of the Champions League will change. The top leagues champions will automatically enter the pot. 

In previous seasons, the determination of seed in the group stage is done based on the coefficient of each club. The club coefficient will be influenced by the achievements of each team in the Champions League and the Europa League in the previous five seasons, also by the club's association coefficient shelter. 

As an illustration, consistent clubs advanced to the final rounds of the Champions League as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and certainly makes pot 1 Meanwhile, Juventus and Manchester City entered the pot 2 despite their status as champions in their respective leagues . 

Starting next season, clubs which are included pot 1 will not be determined by the club coefficients. Incoming pot 1 is the defending champion and winner of the Champions League seven of the top European leagues (Spain, England, Germany, Italy, Portugal, France, and Russia). 

"This would be later endorsed by the executive committee, but this is a clear recommendation of the committee that the club competitions seed determination systems change starting next season," said UEFA General Secretary, Gianni Infantino, who told Sky Sports. 

"The committee felt the club should be no additional awards were given to the winners of their respective leagues," he explained. 

"It may be hard to understand, especially in recent years when the winner of the league is not necessarily a club that is ranked the best (in terms of the coefficient of the club).
